In 1999, Obtainium was born in a home garage, with a simple philosophy: find value in excess laboratory, test equipment, specialty electronics & industrial machinery.
This simple business grew quickly during the economic hard times. Our focus was to supply surplus to cost conscious businesses, institutions & individuals. We have grown substantially and continue supplying these hard-to-find products with responsive service & quick order fulfillment.
In 2008 we opened The Reuseum, a retail surplus technology outlet in Garden City, Idaho.
As Obtainium grows, we expand on our belief that all businesses have the responsibility to help make our world a better place. And to fulfill this idea, in 2012, the Company’s founder, John Schiff, established the non-profit organization: Reuseum Educational, Inc.
Reuseum Educational is a recognized 501c non-profit entity that provides workshops, materials & expertise in the support of science & technology education. By simply diverting the e-waste stream through sales and recycling, Reuseum Educational raises and distributes funds for STEM education.
