Product Description
Vintage Logitech AudioMan AM1 – External Audio Device for IBM PC, Parallel Port, Very Good Condition, Untested
Condition:
This Logitech AudioMan, Model AM1, is used, clean condition and shows minimal signs of previous use. It remains untested because we don’t have access to a computer with a DB25 parallel port, so its working condition is unknown. The foam over the microphone has deteriorated over time, which is typical for vintage audio equipment. Sorry, we don’t have any drivers, software or documentation.
Here’s what we know about it:
- Model and Connection: The AudioMan AM1, released in the early 1990s, was designed to connect to IBM-compatible PCs via a DB25 parallel port, allowing users to add sound capabilities to systems without internal audio.
- Audio Features:
- Playback: Produces 8-bit, 22 kHz mono audio through its built-in speaker.
- Recording: Captures 8-bit, 11 kHz mono audio via the internal microphone.
- Compatibility: Plays WAV files on Windows 3.x, adding basic audio support to vintage PCs.
- Portable Design: Powered by two AA batteries, the AudioMan AM1 was portable and convenient.
- Historical Significance: The AudioMan is a notable piece of early 90s PC history, offering a solution for adding audio functionality when sound cards were not yet standard.
